Don-K Ranch—Main Gate Don-K Ranch—Main Gate

Located on Siloam Road southwest of Pueblo, this ranch was originally part of the Goodnight ranch which was purchased by the Liveseys in 1876. Harris Dunbar, grandfather of PCHS member Jean Butorac, bought it in 1920. In 1932, Dunbar gave it to his daughter Margaret (Jean’s mother) and her husband Ralph Callin. Jean spent her childhood there. In 1946 or 1947, they sold to the Koenig family of St. Louis, who two years later opened it as a guest ranch known as “The Don K” under the operation of Don Koenig. About 1988, after many successful seasons of welcoming visitors from many states and foreign countries, the Koenigs sold to a family named Smith who continued the guest ranch for another decade. Today it is a private ranch.
